How do you like this recent heat wave? It can make things pretty hot inside older Alfas, most of which do not have air conditioning. I sure miss my old GTV, the 72 model with the sun-roof; that really helped keep the GTV cool. r have the answer though, just go really fast with the windows open, or get a Spider. We had several top-down Spiders at our recent track event . II you missed this event, then you missed a fantastic event, and an incredible day of track time. The turnout was not large, which meant for tons and tons of track time for everybody that was there. Not only did we have cool Ferrari and Porsche cars there, it was great family affair, too. Mark Weiner brought his turbo Spider and shared the driving with daughter Liann and son Brett.
David Kreider and son Jonathon brought a Spider and an Infiniti Coupe, they had a great time, each of them testing the limits of both cars. I rode with a couple of these youngsters, maybe I'm getting old, but they were very fast around the track, and had amazing car control, I wish I would have had their ability in a car at that age. Alfas are just incredible cars to learn how to go fast! I hope that we can just bring some more younger members into our club. With Alfa Romeo not selling cars in the USA for well over a decade now, our membership numbers have dwindled. It is becoming increasingly difficult for ACOC to hold a track event now without losing money. We need a much greater turnout of members than we have had in the last 2-3 years, were it not for the low cost of the CSP facility we would have have difficulty holding our annual Circo event this year.
I'm optimistic that when Alfa Romeo returns to the USA, we will experience a great surge in membership, until then we need all of you to come out and support this club. Please attend as many events as you can, and make an extra effort to attend (the big one) 'Circo' held in September every year.
